Ferran Adrià turned cooking into a laboratory. At elBulli he pioneered molecular gastronomy — foams, 'spherification,' and dishes that played tricks on every sense.

Demand was staggering: elBulli reportedly received around two million reservation requests a year for only a few thousand seats, before he closed it to focus on research.

He redefined what a restaurant could be. In Chef Cup, Spain is the mad scientist — unpredictable, brilliant, capable of a dish no one has ever seen.
